A Glimpse into the Past

Whenever I travel, I always make a point to visit the local antique shops. During my recent trip to Missouri, I was fortunate enough to come across an antique mall called Forever Antiques located in Farmington. The advantage to visiting an antique mall is that these large showrooms typically represent many (often times hundreds of) unique dealers in their own individually leased spaces. As I explored the endless aisles of vintage collectibles, I was in awe of how much history each piece held and how at one time, these items belonged to someone that lived several decades or even a century ago. These rare treasures truly give us a glimpse into the past. Photos by: Style-Haus

Leather, Spikes and Studs

Leather, spikes and studs, worn individually or together, these elements lend an edgy look to any ensemble. Whether your style inspiration is biker babe, rocker or sleek sophistication, the mix of leather and/or metal embellishments are key elements to achieve these looks.

Ode to Chanel

Since 1909, Chanel has revolutionized fashion by establishing itself as a symbol of sophistication, luxury and elegance. Chanel is a fashion institution, widely recognized for its haute couture, leather goods, perfumes, cosmetics and accessories. Chanel's popularity and influence, which spans across all age groups, has led to worldwide demand for its iconic style . As shown in this photos, it's undeniable Chanel adds an element of timeless elegance to any look. Fun fact: Chanel's signature quilted fabric/leather was inspired by the jackets of jockeys. Rock Royalty

Fashion and rock and roll have always seemed to gravitate towards one another. And so it would be no surprise that Georgia Jagger (18), Daisy Lowe (21) and Amber Le Bon (21), all daughters born into rock and roll royalty, naturally ended up in front of the camera lens. Georgia Jagger, daughter of legendary musician Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones and model Jerry Hall, appeared most recently in Hudson jean ads, Versace, Chanel Resort and has even graced the cover of November 2010 Harper's Bazaar. Daughter of vocalist/musician turned fashion designer Pearl Lowe and Gavin Rossdale of Bush, Daisy Lowe, boasts a portfolio that includes campaigns for Mango, DKNY, Louis Vuitton and Marc by Marc Jacobs. Amber Le Bon, daughter of Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran and model Yasmin Le Bon, has modeled for Moschino, River Island and was featured in Playing Fashion's October 2010 edition. While they come from a lineage of rock icons and famous models, these young ladies are making a mark in their own right.

Fierce Footwear

You might recognize this designer's shoes from my earlier Shoe Gallery post. Raphael Young made his debut in 2007 and three years later is opening his flagship store on the famous rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau in Paris. Since his debut, Raphael has quietly created a name for himself with his highly innovative and architectural designs. He was mentored by his uncle, Alexandre Narcy, who was known as the principle shoe designer for Yves Saint Laurent. Raphael credits his uncle for grooming him to be the designer he is today. With innate talent and passion for footwear, he has creates shoes that are exquisitely crafted, incorporating space age designs and sculpted heels. Fun Fact: He had a brief stint in the Navy before pursuing his dream to be a shoe designer.

Masquerade, à la Vogue Paris

French Vogue celebrated its 90th Anniversary last week by hosting a decadent masquerade fête held at the Hotel Pozzo di Borgo in Paris, France. The grand affair was attended by some of the most high profile and influential figures in the fashion scene. Supermodels, celebrities and designers alike wore masks inspired by the Eyes Wide Shut theme; some more disguised than others. The event was glamourous, provocative and dramatic...true to French Vogue form. Image Source: Wireimage, Wenn, Vogue Paris Oct 2010

Napa Getaway

Napa Valley is located approximately 55 miles North of San Francisco and known worldwide as a food and wine mecca for travelers. There are over 400 wineries and the Valley boasts several Michelin Star restaurants to please the most finicky diners. With it being a short distance away, I try to plan a trip once a year and this past weekend was my opportunity to indulge in food, wine and relaxation. The landscape and scenery is breathtaking to say the least, which presented the perfect opportunity to practice my photography. When in Northern California, I highly recommend spending a few days or more to explore the beautiful Wine Country. Image credit: Style-Haus

Celeb Style Sightings

Some celebs never cease to impress me with their instinctive sense of style. Pulling off chic looks becomes second nature to these style icons. Here are some recent celeb sightings to kick start the weekend... p.s. I love how some of the celebs are accompanied by an entourage of handlers. Wouldn't it be nice to have someone hold your umbrella?
