In Love and In Fashion

Gwen & Gavin, Miranda & Orlando, Alexa & Alex, Gisele & Tom, Olivia & Johannes, and Jade & Will, have proven not only that their love endures, but have established themselves as fashionable couples. These beautiful couples share sense of style that is enviable. Whether the women dress the men or the men dress themselves, dressed up or dressed down, I appreciate the fact that they take fashion risks and their style aesthetics complement each other well. Rock Royalty

Fashion and rock and roll have always seemed to gravitate towards one another. And so it would be no surprise that Georgia Jagger (18), Daisy Lowe (21) and Amber Le Bon (21), all daughters born into rock and roll royalty, naturally ended up in front of the camera lens. Georgia Jagger, daughter of legendary musician Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones and model Jerry Hall, appeared most recently in Hudson jean ads, Versace, Chanel Resort and has even graced the cover of November 2010 Harper's Bazaar. Daughter of vocalist/musician turned fashion designer Pearl Lowe and Gavin Rossdale of Bush, Daisy Lowe, boasts a portfolio that includes campaigns for Mango, DKNY, Louis Vuitton and Marc by Marc Jacobs. Amber Le Bon, daughter of Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran and model Yasmin Le Bon, has modeled for Moschino, River Island and was featured in Playing Fashion's October 2010 edition. While they come from a lineage of rock icons and famous models, these young ladies are making a mark in their own right.

Masquerade, à la Vogue Paris

French Vogue celebrated its 90th Anniversary last week by hosting a decadent masquerade fête held at the Hotel Pozzo di Borgo in Paris, France. The grand affair was attended by some of the most high profile and influential figures in the fashion scene. Supermodels, celebrities and designers alike wore masks inspired by the Eyes Wide Shut theme; some more disguised than others. The event was glamourous, provocative and dramatic...true to French Vogue form. Image Source: Wireimage, Wenn, Vogue Paris Oct 2010

Celeb Style Sightings

Some celebs never cease to impress me with their instinctive sense of style. Pulling off chic looks becomes second nature to these style icons. Here are some recent celeb sightings to kick start the weekend... p.s. I love how some of the celebs are accompanied by an entourage of handlers. Wouldn't it be nice to have someone hold your umbrella?

Celeb Portraits

There is such an artistic and creative nature behind fashion that naturally, I am also drawn to photography... particularly portraits. I stumbled across Jake Chessum's work recently and found myself intrigued at his celebrity portraits. Not only are the images beautiful, but he captures a wide range of unfiltered emotion that captivates your interest. Although his subjects are actors who are trained to transform themselves into characters/roles and convey raw emotion, I also believe as a photographer he assumes an important role in engaging and connecting with his subjects in order to capture those moments. Check out more of his incredible work at www.jakechessum.com.

Star Power

With the Emmy Awards airing this past weekend, I thought it might be fitting to do a star studded post. Hollywood celebrities have made their mark on magazine covers, ad campaigns and editorials over the years. The shift to using A-listers in lieu of models was driven by the the cultural obsession with celebrities and they were identifiable to the general public, in effect driving magazine sales. I read today here that there may a gradual decline in using big stars...possible reasons: celebrities are overexposed these days, therefore have less of a sales impact as they used to, fashion houses and labels are more cost conscious leading them to reconsider booking a celebrity. Whatever the direction may be, these pics of our favorite celebrities are gorgeous nonetheless.

California Chic

Since her debut prime time role as Summer Roberts on The O.C., California born Rachel Bilson has emerged as a stylish celebrity enviable for her casual chic looks which have earned her regular features on Who What Wear and various media sources. I think what most girls are drawn to is her understated and accessible aesthetic to styling. Whether it's boho, vintage, or casual, it's effortless and not overdone.  Fun Facts: Aside from having a penchant for thrift stores and flea markets, she's a fan of everyday drugstore cosmetics. She's only 5'2" (1.524 m).  Image Sources: Zimbio, Rachel-Bilson.org, Rachel-B.Org

Kate the Great

I've been admiring Kate Lanphear, Style Director of US Elle, for some time now and as do many others. I'm fascinated with her platinum short do, her David Bowie meets rocker/biker chick, tom boyish sense style and have such respect for her incredible career spanning from Vogue Australia, then to Harper's Bazaar and currently at US Elle. Her trademark look is typically minimal makeup, androgynous separates but totally rocks the bold, urban, feminine ensembles and adorned in amazing metallic accessories. After reading this NYMag interview, I like her even more. Photo Credits: StockholmStreetstyle, Zimbio, JakandJil, Citizen Couture

"The City" Style

You don't have to be a fan of "The City" to know Whitney Port and Olivia Palermo have style. The show serves as my guilty pleasure for various reasons; the NYC lifestyle, the drama and best of all the fashion. Are you Team Whitney or Team Olivia?
